What type of adapter do I need to turn my dvd player and sattelite speakers into a home theater?

When you buy a home theater, you basically get a dvd player and speakers. I have a really good dvd player, and I have speakers that a friend gave me, How can I turn this into a home theater? The dvd player has basic audio in/out jacks on the back. Is there an adapter that i can hook all of my speaker wires into, and then plug that into the audio jacks on my dvd player?

Dvd player that comes with will blow out the one you better picture quality for they are any lower in the lowest sound than if they look at the.
