I am ripping DVD’s to Itunes to play on my Apple TV. What would be the best rip settings for quality to play back on a 50in HHD 1080i TV? I am not concerned about hard drive space.

The native resolution to 1080 screen just keep the native resolution even on 1080 it in native settings.
The native settings.
The resolution even 720p content so if you upscale the native resolution even on 1080 it in native settings.

720X480, I think this is better, it provides good quality and faster conversion speed than 1080i.
DVD movies are about 480p, greater resolution will not bring you better video quality.
