      This DVD ripper may be your best choice.
      It can rip DVD files to all popular video formats with nice quality.
      And it still supports video editing, such as crop black bar on screen, trim time length to get a specific clip, merge several chapters into a single video file etc.
      I think TRIM and MERGE function are very useful in making something funny.

      Of cause, you can edit video in another video editing programme, like windows movie maker.
