How do I get my dvd burner to burn disks made in taiwan?

My Pacific Digital dvd burner will only burn discs made in china. Problem is all the major manufacturers have been having them made in taiwan or thailand among other places. I have tried burning the same file on chinese disks and taiwan disks and can only burn on chinese. Any suggestions?

How old is your burner? Is it a DVD+R or DVD-R burner? Unfortunately, there *is* a difference. Those are two completely different standards. Also, are you trying to burn to Dual Layer discs? You need a dual layer burner for that. And, finally, you might be trying to burn to HD-DVD, instead of DVD.

If you’re sure that your discs and your drive match up, then you should download the latest firmware for your drive and install that. I’m pretty sure that will clear up your problem. If that doesn’t work, then buy a better DVD burner. Pacific Digital is kind of low end…

You can buy a good DVD burner for $25 to $50 at most online merchants now. Try or.
