How can I watch my Venturer portable dvd player on my TV?

Hi I have a venturer portable dvd player and I hooked up the yellow and white cord thing into the player and my tv. It doesn’t show the DVD on it. It just shows the regular channel when I turn the DVD player on. Is there a specific channel or mode my tv needs to be in to view the dvd? The DVD player works fine by itself.

The video cable should be color coded yellow. Make sure that the yellow jack on the player is connected to the yellow jack on the TV.

Make sure the TV is set to the correct (composite?) input.
