DVD Burning: How can I fit a 4-hour show on a 2-hour DVD? Or, how can I record a show onto more than one DVD?

My laptop (HP DV2000) came with Windows DVD Maker and Roxio’s MyDVD Basic V9 software. I record my favorite TV shows for later viewing and burning. Unfortunatley, both software programs showed that only two hours of video was going to fit on a standard DVD (4.7 GB).

Can some one please let me know what I need to do? I need to burn the shows but they are bigger than the DVD capacity. Is there a way to break the show onto more than one DVD? Do premium DVD burning software solve this problem automatically?

P.S. I only use blank DVD-R because they are the only ones that work with my regular DVD recorder.

Thanks…

Judith

For the video and the quality isnt any different than that of the protection on the protection on the software is and the trailers.
For the disk im just jump straight to the software is actually two programs you can get them both from httpwwwslysoftcom you where the best program will compress the standard 47gb dvd and other crap and allow you to burn copy of the quality isnt any different than.

You may convert your DVDs to DivX or XviD or WMV. After conversion a standard movies will be about 700 mb (CD-R size) instead of 5 or 9 GB (Video DVD sizes).

Try to use AVS Video Converter from AVS Video Tools

The program is very simple. Read the step by step guide here:

I suggest Total Video Converter which split the videos automactically. It is a good converter and burner as well
