The 3 Best Zune DVD Converters

June 30, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Drew Samson asked:

Microsoft’ Zune is not only one of the best Mp3 players but also has an amazing video player feature as well. But to reap the best results from this you should have a Zune DVD converter in your PC.

The main work of the DVD converter is to grab content from DVD and then rip it in to a format suitable for the Zune player. This churns DVD movies to make them suitable to play on the Zune player.

Let’s evaluate the 3 best Zune DVD Converters:

1. Cucusoft Zune Video Converter & DVD To Zune Suite

I know that the name is a little bit too long, but what the heck it is a gem of a converter software. If you are new to ripping then this is the software for you; basic, user friendly, quick and easy, no complicate step involved, just rip and convert. It will rip almost any DVD from the market… Even DVD’s that are encrypted one.

2. PQ DVD To Zune Video Converter Suite

This converter has a few more options that the basic version. It has a one click function which lets you convert your DVD. It boast about ripping 4 times faster than any converter in the market, it also supports Dolby surround sound and also allows to convert TiVo recordings. And you can also crop the video size if it does not fit on the Zune screen. Its amazing to know that it is an amazing software. To learn more check PQDVD.

3. ImToo DVD To Zune Converter v.4.0

ImToo is an amazing software, it offers many of the features offered by PQ and many other neat addition features. It offers custom ripping where you can set the bit rate speed of the file. You can even rip a part of the DVD rather than the whole thing. The best feature is it’s preview while converting option, it actually help[s you from doing things twice that is if a wrong file is being ripped or if something goes wrong while you convert.

And if you want to reap the best from your Zune player, the Zune DVD converter is quite essential. And all these three softwares are quite affordable at around $30 to $40.

How to View Dvds on Your Iphone

June 29, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Chad Kiser asked:

Many people looked forward to the release of the Apple iPhone because they were already iPod owners. They heard that the iPhone would have similar features to the iPods, but with even more improvements. In fact, iPhones are capable of playing videos and music, just like many iPods. One of the features that some iPods have is the ability for you to transfer DVDs to them. So, is it possible to put DVDs on your iPhone too? The answer is yes, you absolutely can!

If you own an iPhone you may love watching movies on it. However, are you finding it expensive to keep constantly buying movies for your iPhone? If so, you definitely want to consider simply transferring DVDs that you already own to your iPhone, instead.

You can eliminate the high costs of buying movies for your iPhone online and just rip your DVDs to your computer and then transfer them over to your iPhone, instead. It is the cheapest way to enjoy your DVD library on your iPhone.

Fortunately, converting your DVD movies to iPhone format is not too difficult if you have help of the right program. The first thing you need to do is download a software program that is capable of converting DVD files to MP4 format.

MP4 format is the file format that is compatible with iPhones. There are many programs to choose from. There are a few that are freeware while others will cost you money. Some programs are easier than others. Find the program that best fits your needs.

You just need to download the right DVD ripper software and rip the DVD to your computer (following the directions provided by the developer).

You need to pay close attention to where you store the converted DVD files on your computer. Once you have converted your DVD files to MP4 format, you can just use your iTunes program to move the converted files over to your iPhone.

Since MP4 format files are fairly small, you will be able to store several DVDs on your iPhone at once. That means that you will be able to enjoy hours of DVD watching on your iPhone any time you want. So, whether you are waiting for an appointment, traveling on a plane, riding in a car or laying on a beach, enjoy watching your favorite DVDs on your iPhone!

What Does DVD Ripping Software Do?

June 28, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Chad Kiser asked:

Do you think you need DVD ripper software? If you own a portable MP4 device like the iPod, the iPhone, the Microsoft Zune, the Sony PSP or a cell phone with video capabilities, then you may need a DVD ripper program. These programs rip and convert DVD video and make them compatible with these devices.

However, buying videos to play specifically on your portable player can be expensive. If you want to save yourself some money, you can actually copy DVDs that you already own over to your portable multimedia device. All you need to do that is the proper DVD ripper program. A DVD ripper program is a software program which will let you rip your DVDs to a format that your portable player can recognize and play.

When you are choosing a DVD ripper program, you will probably want one that is capable of converting your DVD movie files to MP4 format. Most portable multimedia players these days, including iPhones, Zunes, iPods and PSPs are only compatible with MP4 format files. Although that is one of the most important things to look for, it is far from the only thing. There are several other things to consider, when you are choosing a DVD ripper program.

First, consider the DVD ripper program’s specifications. Speed is a big issue. After all, would you want to spend all day ripping a single DVD? Of course not! It is best to look for a DVD ripping program that can rip DVD movies at a quick rate. This is especially important if you are planning to use the program all the time. A few minutes of speed here and there adds up after several DVD ripping sessions. So, a lot depends on how often you plan to rip DVDs.

Another important thing to look for when you are choosing a DVD ripper program is whether or not it supports both batch and full mode. That becomes especially important if you are fond of purchasing television series on DVD. In the batch mode on most DVD rippers, you can choose the exact chapters you want to rip from the DVD instead of copying the entire contents. This will allow you to carry your favorite programs with you on your favorite MP3/Mp4 device wherever you go (instead of having to carry a DVD player around!).

Last, but not least, be sure to look at the ease of use of the DVD ripper program. You will want a ripper that is easy to use. There’s no advantage to a lot of features in the software if you have no idea how to use them properly.

By following these tips and using your best judgment, you will be able to choose the perfect DVD ripper program for you. Now you can transport all your favorite DVD movies on your portable multimedia device wherever and whenever you go.

Preeminent Value of DVD Backup Programs

June 27, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Isaiah G. Henry asked:

There are a number of websites offering you DVD copying software, some telling you the speed the software allows you to copy at and some telling you the additional features they offer. But how do you know which is the best and what do you need to make a good DVD copy? To begin with, you need a computer system that has a DVD writer that is inbuilt or an external one.

To ensure that you are able to make a fast copy, you will need a DVD copy writer that offers a fast writing speed. The latest ones also offer dual layer writing which means you can write on both sides of the DVD and play it both sides as well. Most DVD writers today support 48x speed written DVDs.

The next step is to get a good DVD copying software. To help you with this, you can search for ?best DVD copy software? in your favorite search engine. There you will get a long list of software claiming to be better than the rest. Now you will need to decide your prerequisites like additional features offered to the price being asked. There are a few websites which offer free DVD copying software as well. Read the consumer reviews carefully before using free software. You can then try out the free software to see if it performs for you the tasks you want it to.

There are expensive programs as well as some that are rather cheap. Some of them give you a facility to copy a DVD to a CD so that you don?t need a DVD burner while copying. You can download a movie directly to a DVD with the help of this program. It can even back up video game DVDs. With all these features in it, it cane be a little pricey but is worth it if you require such features. Then there are some programs that will cost you a little less but will make back up copies of your DVD with just one click of your mouse.

1. Latest DVD writers offer good quality of the DVD copy. 2. The software should offer to copy the original DVD with all the features on it as well. 3. Some software offer more options and flexibility in making DVD copy, like making a backup. 4. Some software will make VCD and CD of a DVD copy by ripping the DVD. This is primarily useful for people who do not have a DVD writer and do not want to buy one.

DVD writing software should be advanced technology. Today?s DVDs are encrypted with codes to avoid piracy, but advanced DVD writers are one step ahead and can rip codes and decode any DVD. Some DVD software are simple and easy to use by novice DVD copy makers. Depending on the features of the DVD writers, the price varies from free to fairly expensive. The DVD writer should be compatible (friendly) with other applications and software on your computer, otherwise it will cause problems and one or more applications may not work properly.

DVD copy software should copy all the features of the original DVD or if you want some of them to be excluded, you can select that too. It should have the quality to overcome any defect found in the DVD to be copied. It is also very important for the DVD copy software to be friendly with other software present in the computer so that it works along with them comfortably.

If you are a person who likes to burn a lot of DVDs or a person who does not like to compromise on the quality then you will agree with me when I say that by spending a little if you can get an exact DVD copy of the original then you may as well do it.

Does anyone know where I can get a good DVD burning software?

June 25, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning 6 Comments →

Misty Dawn asked:

I want to make backups of my copy protected DVD’s. Traditional software wont do that. I want a good burning software that will burn the entire thing, the cheaper the better. I don’t plan on doing anything illegal, I just want backups…
Okay, I just realized that I already have DVD shrink on my computer. I’ll give a best answer to anyone who can detail how to use it. Email me if you have already answered.

Dvd Ripping Has Never Been Easy

June 25, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Ted Peterson asked:

There have been many instances or occasions when I have rented several DVDs during my holidays and was not able to watch them all. I almost wasted my money for getting these DVDs on rent until I was suggested to look at this cool software Imtoo DVD Ripper by one of my friends who suggested I should rip all my DVDs to another format which can be stored on my laptop for a later watch.

I was thrilled with the way he described this software can do as it was great to hear about all of its features. I immediately downloaded the software and installed it in very easy steps on my laptop running windows XP. All the files were installed correctly without any errors and once I opened the application interface it appeared as if I had a DVDs case sitting right inside my laptop’s monitor.

It was an amazing experience looking at the stylish looks of the application. I read through the readme.txt file which was very informative about the things this software can do. It can convert my DVD VOB formats to a VCD, SVCD, DivX, WMV, ASF, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI, Xvid etc. I believed my friends verbatim and considered giving a shot at my favorite DVD movie to be converted into an AVI format.

It took me less than a minute to click on the source (that was my DVD disk) and the destination (a folder on my local computer) and hit the start button. It took a lot less time than other ripping software existing today as I was tired of experimenting with many conversion tools with dissatisfaction rate growing every time. But as a matter of fact, I loved this utility as it took 45 minutes to rip my DVD into a 615MB AVI format with DVD quality picture and sound.

I was amazed how less importance this software has got today. To me this is the best software I have ever found for ripping my DVDs into other convertible formats.

While I was experimenting with this software I learned abut many other features which include:

· An easy to use application interface which we have already learned above.

· A tool for any age group as long as the interest lies in ripping the DVD into another storage format. Give it a shot and you will find a satisfactory experience every time you use it.

· The software automatically performs CPU checks to make sure it gives priority to your DVD ripping than any other application without any operating system hang-ups or crashes.

· A preview mode which could act as a status bar for the user to know the level of DVD ripping software has reached. You can watch the movie at the same time it is being ripped on to your local hard drive.

· Another cool feature is the chapter collection process which allows the user to pick and rip the chapter they like along with the subtitles, movie menus, DTS audio, languages etc. You can also pick and choose only an audio track to be ripped as well.

· An excellent batch conversion process allows users to use good multi threading CPU feature to rip more than one file at a time.

Overall a great piece of software which allows the DVDs to be ripped into various different formats with good quality audio and video. A must download program! Try it for FREE

What is the best DVD Ripping software?

June 23, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning 10 Comments →

UltimateSnackYo asked:

I’ve heard of DVD ripping software, but there’s a lot of them. Which one is the overall best for DVD ripping.

It doesn’t matter if it’s free or I have to buy it, although I don’t think any of them are free. I don’t want the best DVD ripping purchase download though unless I can buy the same at retail. Only retail versions for buying.
I can honestly believe that some of these answers, not all, sound like ads.

Copying a DVD Movie to the Computer or Laptop When you are Using Windows Xp

June 22, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning No Comments →

Isaiah G. Henry asked:

It is easy to copy DVDs. What is more, thanks to special DVD burning software, now you can copy even system files to DVD. For many people it is still not clear how you can achieve this under Windows XP. If you are among them, here are some tips, which will help you.

First you need to insert the DVD into the DVD drive. If your drive is older and it is a CD-ROM, the procedure won?t work. After the DVD is inserted, use the standard copy/paste command to copy the necessary files into the folder where you want them to be. As a result, you will see many files. Look at their size because chances are that the largest files are the movie files, while all the rest are just supporting files.

Next, you need a DVD ripper program. There are such programs, which allow to turn any VCD into DVD format and any rlv format to mp3, mp4, VLC, etc. Some of the DVD ripper programs are free, while others offer a trial version for free and then you need to pay if you want to use the full version for longer.

One thing you must do before the actual copying of files to your hard disk is to make sure that your hard disk has enough free space. You need free space for the DVD itself (this could be as much as 8GB) and for a buffer the operating system needs for copying the files. So, if the DVD is 8GB, then 10GB free space is the minimum for a successful copy operation. Additionally, you shouldn?t run any other programs, while you are copying the files because this can lead to corrupted (and useless) data.

Nowadays there are rewritable DVDs and their advantage is that you can write on them and delete them many times. Rewritable DVDs are great for recording data that must be frequently rewritten ? i.e. file archives. If you already know how to burn a DVD, you will soon notice that rewritable DVDs are almost the same, the only difference being the speed of writing.

Windows XP allows not only to copy DVDs to hard disk. Under Windows XP you can also copy a hard disk to a DVD. You would like to do this when you need a backup of your hard disk. Since hard disks are not eternal because they get damaged or a virus wipes their contents, backups are vital. So, it is great to backup your important files to a DVD. Burning to DVD is done with the help of a DVD burning program. For instance, Nero or Roxio are good Windows DVD burning programs. As a rule, DVD burning programs are user friendly and sometimes you need just a few clicks to copy from your hard drive to a DVD or the other way round.

The DVD Goes iPod

June 21, 2008 By: admin Category: dvd burning Comments Off

Jason Cox asked:

Since the latest versions of iPod enable video viewing, it only makes sense that the next step would be to create a way for D.V.Ds to be viewed on the device, as well. There are freeware utilities that exist to allow you to transfer D.V.Ds to your hard drive and then import them onto your iPod for viewing. Adding the videos to your iPod library will make video storage while traveling much easier.

Transferring DVD to iPod, for the most part, involves taking the content from the DVD, also called ripping, adding it to your hard drive, then copying it from your hard drive you your iPod via iTunes. There are several different utilities that allow you to do this. Here are some overviews for the most commonly used utilities.

One of the most frequently used utilities is HandBrake. To use HandBrake first put the DVD into your D V D drive. Then launch the program. Once the program has launched it will scan the disk. Sometimes the disk cannot be read due to special app protection. In this case you will receive a message saying, no valid title found. After the program has read scanned the disk, it will display a list of titles.

The titles will include all the viewable files that are on the disk: the movie, any documentaries, deleted scenes or other extras. Select the file you wish to rip. If you cannot locate which file is the movie, it is usually the one that has the longest duration. After you have selected the file, next choose the appropriate settings and click the Rip button. The program will begin ripping the D V D. The process can take up to a few hours to complete. Once the program has completed, you can add the file to your iPod library.

Another utility is Xilisoft DVD to iPod Converter. This product can be purchased for $29.00 from the manufacturers website. This utility allows you to compress files to any size and allows you to preview the ripping progress. Xilisoft is easy to use for beginners, but also includes various setting controls so that the product is great for veterans as well.

There are several other utilities available for converting D.V.Ds to a format that can be viewed on the iPod. To find more of these utilities, you can do an Internet search for Convert iPod to DVD. This will give you links to various utilities. You can select the one that has the ease of use and price range you desire.

Since DVD files are so large, it is best to store them on 30 and 60GB iPods. If you use an iPod shuffle or an iPod with a lower storage limit, you may not be able to store many videos, if you are able to store any at all. You should also be aware that the more D.V.Ds you store on your iPod, the fewer songs you will be able to store.

There are still legal implications involved with copying D.V.Ds to iPod. Ripping the content from videos by bypassing the copyright-system used on D.V.Ds and is illegal under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. However, the law does not specifically state that it is ok to copy the content from your own personal collection for your own personal use. It may seem that you are well within your rights as owner of the D V D to copy the content to a portable viewing device.

There have been some court rulings that have said D V D copying is ok as long as it is not used for infringement purposes. However, the Motion Picture Association of America holds that it does not matter the reason, any content ripping from DVD violates the DMCA.

Since the law does not specifically state whether DVD copying is legal if used only for personal reasons, it is necessary for each user to access their views. Many people believe that copying D.V.Ds for personal reasons is legal until there are laws that state otherwise.

Perhaps in the near future D.V.Ds may be available in a digital format that can be purchased and downloaded directly from the Internet to your iPod without using a third-party utility. For now, you will have to use a utility to rip the content and then add to your iPod.

Megan
