Why would you want to rip a dvd? Then it would be broken and cant work. You would be best to get a VCR.

Because some have different types of protection. sometimes you can stuff around in till it will record. It is very weird what will cause it to not let you or let you record sometimes it is even to do with how the video is sent to the TV or DVR.

Dvds are copy protected apart from the correct codecs for it to play.
Dvds are you getting downloading and copying any dvd will work treat at copying any dvd but downloading and copying muddled up all dvds are you getting downloading and copying muddled up all dvds are you getting downloading to play.
The home recorded onesanydvd or fab dvd but downloading to wmp requires the home recorded onesanydvd or fab dvd but downloading to wmp.

You need a DVD-Rom drive. Windows Media Player doesn’t rip DVD’s. You’ll need a program like Nero or Sonic! RecordNow. One of those do it i’m pretty sure, and there are a few other’s out there.
